About Us

The Sewell Family runs a ranching opertation in northern Nevada since 1993 where they've developed the love for Vaquero, Buckaroo, Nevada and Elko style hats.
Numerous buckaroos are found on high desert in Northern Nevada, California, Oregon and Southern Idaho. These Buckaroos wear such stylized hat. The Sewell family formed Montana Rio Hat Company whereas each family member share the mutual goal of building truly customized quality hats. The entire family including three children have committed themselves to build custom hats for the youth related programs at the family's upcoming Youth Ranch programs.
Mr. Sewell has contributed numerous years of his time, expertise and experience toward the youth projects. Together between Mr. Sewell and his family they are committed hat makers with plans to make medium graded custom hats for each youth that are enrolled into the program. Each student will receive higher graded custom hat when they graduate from the program.
Beside producing hats for the youth, Mr. Sewell also build custom hats for special customers. Mrs. Sewell does her part helping with sewing and producing pattern for chaps, western vests, cowboy cuffs, rifle scabbard, and holsters. Quality buckaroo rawhide reatas (roping ropes) are also produced. After expenses the profit we generate are contributed toward the youth programs.
